Rebates Available for Replacing Bathroom Fixtures

The Regional Water Authority announced that funding is available to businesses and multi-family complexes in the Sacramento area for the purchase of new bathroom fixtures. Apartment owners can replace older toilets, urinals, showerheads, and faucet aerators with new high-efficiency models and get money back for the fixtures.

Properties can be quickly pre-screened to see if they are eligible for this program. Afterwards, an onsite inspection is scheduled to evaluate existing fixtures and determine if the property can save water and energy. If so, owners will receive pre-approval to ensure a reimbursement before proceeding to replace fixtures. The next step is to purchase new WaterSense labeled high-efficiency fixtures from a home improvement store, plumbing supply store, or from a licensed plumber. Owners can get money back for the cost of the fixtures (up to a maximum) plus sales tax. However, any labor costs for the installation is excluded.

The Regional Water Authority is implementing this Proposition 84 grant from the California Department of Water Resources. To learn more and to request a free pre-screening of your property, contact Sharon Fraser, Water Use Efficiency Practitioner, at sfraser@rwah2o.org or (916) 622-8658.
